Intramuscular immunoglobulin (IMIg) therapy
Intramuscular immunoglobulin (in which medication is injected into the
muscle) was used commonly in the 1980s but is now limited to specialized
treatments. IM administration can be painful because the immunoglobulin needs to
be injected deep into muscle tissue.
